Illegal Parking Crackdown in North Jakarta Intensified

The North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency continues to intensify its crackdown on illegal parking, taking action against hundreds of vehicles—including motorbikes, cars, buses, and trailer trucks—from June 8 to 15, 2026.

Please use the official parking facilities

North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Rudy Saptari Sulesuryana noted that these measures aim to reinstate proper road usage and alleviate congestion points frequently reported by the public. The crackdown was conducted in Kelapa Gading, Tanjung Priok, Pademangan, Penjaringan, and Koja.

"Our actions range from ticketing and filing inspection reports to tire valve removal (OCP), vehicle towing, and the confiscation of two-wheeled vehicles parked illegally on shoulders and sidewalks," he expressed, Tuesday (6/16).

Sulesuryana uttered that the crackdown will be conducted periodically to ensure traffic discipline and road safety.

He called on the public not to use road shoulders or public amenities for illegal parking or unauthorized terminals. Those who continue to violate these regulations will be penalized according to the existing legal framework.

"Please use the official parking facilities provided to ensure a more comfortable driving experience in North Jakarta," he explained.

Traffic Control and Road Transportation Operations Section Head, Yulza Romadhoni Putra, detailed the results of the operations conducted over the past week.

In Kelapa Gading on June 8, personnel took action against 11 motorbikes, conducted OCP on 19 vehicles, and towed five cars. This was followed by operations in Tanjung Priok on June 9, where 16 motorbikes were seized, five cars towed, and three trailer trucks ticketed. Additionally, three trailer trucks underwent tire valve removal, and two illegal parking attendants were apprehended.

On June 10, the crackdown continued in Pademangan, resulting in 15 motorbikes being hauled, two vehicles subjected to OCP, four vehicles ticketed, and four cars towed.

"On June 11 in Penjaringan, we hauled 16 motorbikes, towed four cars, subjected 71 vehicles to OCP, ticketed two, and apprehended four illegal parking attendants," he stated.

He added that the enforcement on June 15 was focused on Koja and Tanjung Priok areas. Personnel successfully hauled seven vehicles, towed one car, conducted OCP on 18 vehicles, and issued tickets or official inspection reports (BAP) to three buses and six trailer trucks.

"All vehicles with four or more wheels caught in the towing operations have been taken to the North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency’s official impound lot for further administrative processing," he added.

He explained that the prevalence of illegal parking stems mainly from limited private parking capacity and the poor compliance of vehicle owners in using authorized parking areas.

"These conditions result in bottlenecks and a reduction in road width, which impede the smooth flow of traffic and negatively impact other commuters," he asserted.
